Privacy policy
This site is built to collect as little as possible. There is no advertising, no analytics, no tracking and no cookie banner, because there is nothing to consent to until you press play on a video.
Controller
I am the controller responsible for data processing on this website. My contact details are in the legal notice.
Hosting and server log files
When you open a page, the hosting provider automatically records the data your browser sends: IP address, date and time, the page requested, referrer, browser and operating system. This is technically necessary to deliver the site and keep it secure. Legal basis: Art. 6 (1) (f) GDPR, my legitimate interest in a stable and secure website. These logs are not merged with other data and are deleted after a short retention period.
Fonts
All typefaces are stored on this website’s own server. No connection is made to Google Fonts, so your IP address is never sent to Google in order to display this page.
Videos (YouTube)
Videos are embedded from YouTube, operated by Google Ireland Limited. They are NOT loaded when a page opens. A still image is shown instead, and the player is only requested after you click it. From that moment Google receives your IP address and may set cookies, and data may be transferred to the USA. Legal basis: Art. 6 (1) (a) GDPR, meaning your consent, given by clicking play. The privacy-enhanced domain youtube-nocookie.com is used. More at policies.google.com/privacy.
Contact form and email
If you write to me through the form, your name, email address, subject and message are transmitted so that I can answer. The form sends your message to this website’s own server, which forwards it by email to my inbox. Both are run by my hosting provider as my processor (Art. 28 GDPR). No other service is involved, and the server does not store the message. Legal basis: Art. 6 (1) (b) GDPR for enquiries about a possible commission, and Art. 6 (1) (f) GDPR otherwise. I keep your message only as long as I need it to deal with your enquiry. If you prefer, write directly to the email address in the legal notice.
Language and display settings
The language you choose, and light or dark mode if you switch it, are stored in your own browser (local storage) so the site opens the same way next time. These are technical settings, they contain no personal data, they never leave your device, and you can clear them at any time in your browser settings. The Work page also remembers which list you chose, only while the tab is open (session storage), so the back arrow on a project page can return you to it.
Your rights
Under the GDPR you have the right to:
- access the data held about you (Art. 15)
- have inaccurate data corrected (Art. 16)
- have your data erased (Art. 17)
- restrict processing (Art. 18)
- receive your data in a portable format (Art. 20)
- object to processing based on legitimate interest (Art. 21)
- withdraw consent at any time, with effect for the future (Art. 7 (3))
Right to complain
You may lodge a complaint with a data protection supervisory authority, in particular in the EU member state of your residence, place of work or the place of the alleged infringement.
