Darfur in War
About the film
Peaceful coexistence in Darfur: people who go on living side by side while the war carries on around them.
A tailor bent over his sewing machine, a crowded market, children watching from a doorway: daily life goes on. A shopkeeper remembers the morning the shooting began, when his shop was burned, and the years of planes overhead. Others talk about a community that was once close and is now being pulled apart, about a market that still belongs to everyone, where nine or ten tribes and the nomads from the open land trade side by side, and about education as the way to a real peace.
